The drive was supposed to be 3hrs. It took us nearly 5 with bad roads and slow traffic. There was nowhere memorable to stop along the way. It was just miles and miles of palm oil estates. Reaching Sandakan was a pleasant surprise with a quaint old town centred around its port. We're now having tea at the English Tea House. Surreal!
